A Desert Flower Planted
Grant Hope #252
Venturing through the desert balm towards the ebbing shores where my cabin home waits with water wheel turning
on the way from one oasis to the river outlet
a cherub no larger than my ear came to visit me as my eyes stared through stirring refractions
In between walking and waking
it whispered that my itinerary of a girl ordinary would greatly expand
crossing oceans to broad castles
witnessing winged unicorns in the valleys beyond the Great Falls
bringing hope to a people and even a prince as a mermaid
all before returning home to the waters at the edge of the desert bed

I enjoyed the dreamlike quality of this poem. The journey begins in a quiet, almost ordinary landscape, then unfolds into a sweeping adventure filled with wonder, transformation, and purpose. The image of a "girl ordinary" discovering a destiny far greater than she imagined feels both magical and deeply hopeful. Beautifully written.
