Sisters playing under a pearl moon
Clotted clouds part in happy hurry
one girl swings
the other pushes away
the solitary moon beams brighter than it has in at least 42 days
watching a splendid sight that doesn’t happen often at night
“Do I hear laughter?
Do I hear a breeze in the trees?
Do I hear the sound of children at play swinging away
instead of the silence of empty roads and driveways?”
One may not know
but the moon is quite cool
so when it blushes it turns from white to blue
“Hi Mr. Moon,” said the tree in a way only nature knows how to hear.
“Isn’t this great?” “I know the shift you have often keeps you from seeing things that people otherwise wouldn’t do when it is so late.”
“Oh Mr. Tree! If only I had hands I could use a camera to capture this memory!
Seeing children at play it really turns my night into day! Oh ho ho he ho!”
But just as Mr. Moon’s delight grew
his light-hearted laughter threw him off cycle
causing the sun to come up early
leaving the moon no time for its happiness to idle
