Once upon a time there was a man who was insecure
lonely and down on his luck
until he met a woman who he believed loved him
his life was turning around and things were getting better
he was promoted at his job
bringing in more money
for the first time he started dreaming of family
She always carried a key on her waist
he’d ask what it was for
she’d always say he would see
until one day she showed him as they made their way to bed
She was altered, modified,
a robot with an algorithmically chosen personality to suit the man’s tastes
she began to say he should like this
she was made for him
like a sex doll that could offer the affirmation he wanted
her skin felt like flesh
her eyes made contact like they were directed of mind
It said, “You should like me. I’m not yours. You are mine. You’re organic. I’m industry, and you’re on company time. You don’t need a child. You need me to cure your impotence. You were clinically diagnosed when your blood was uploaded to the medical mainframe.”
As it began to try to force her way onto him
his mind raced in fear
his mind pounded as the only thought he could hear
“You will not have my will”
He cast it aside
he did not know from whence the robot came
breaking her circuits
it would take him time to gather his thoughts
The world in which we live is full of programming
telling us how to be
release yourself from the hold
think for yourself
