From the foaming of the rolling waves along the beachside
white sheets ebbed and stretched across the sand
until to my surprise
they vertically materialized
Appearing within this curtain of translucent froth
a woman of sun and skin
reached up to take the curtain and tuck her arms in
Adorned with aurora waves of hair
the breath of salt and sun could be seen in its sheen
a slender back divided into sections by a cross and braid of seashell pink
the furrow of her svelte spine held a trace of ocean mist
flowing down to her shapely low-rise waist
where multi-colored tides wrapped around her own shoreline behind the curtain lather
Looking over her slender shoulders
she simpered
lowered her eyes
beckoned me close
Turning to the water
she said,
“I am not a mystery.
I may be from the sea
but I am a woman just the same.
A dedication of promise knit in my mother’s womb
complex and serene as the life with which I am blessed.
Inscribed in history and forever in the palms of His hands.
I am not Eve.
Just a woman of God and a woman of Man.”
As she looked back once more
I took her hand
A flash of mist rose before us
I could see everything in the tide of time
a creation of love and family
her journey across the sea
until finally through this water wall
there she stood at this ocean of possibility
asking if I might answer the call
ready to drop the shroud of skim
and allow me to enter in
