Orange and black
gray and white
hills and clouds prey over this impoverished sight
A city where all color is the same
so emphatic in its proclamation of its veneer mundane
And yet!
Nodding beauty stands asleep
stripes, solids, curls to stand as an aesthetic of hope amidst slumber creeping
A youth of a new generation keeps the prior creaking
dreaming beyond the city limits square
a mountain whispers to take the dare
Walk life’s mountain to its peak
you may not gain all that you seek
as long as blood pumps through your veins
your conscience will never suffer from “What if?” disdain
