My Asian dragon woman
standing by the sea with the flying creature riding her back
like an ancient myth come to life she can dance and morph effortlessly
her scales are pink and orange petals mixed with blue and green leaves
her skin is smoother than a baby when her scales shed

Out by the sea she feels the call to go sailing
to fly over the water to her home
where she is more than legend
between heaven and earth
she can fly freely in the land of her birth

It’s just that sometimes she needs to get away
there is a balance in the old stories
heat, light, and action
coolness, darkness, and repose
yin and yang
the dragon brings power and heat
it’s also a bringer of rain

So here she stands by the sea
my Asian dragon woman
taking a respite from home
thankful to be away
yet heeding the red boat’s dragon song
in the comfort of the heat
the cool water lets her petals float along
