Enchanting Play

In the jungle on a stormy day
you might think that is a time to stay inside
but for many it means another day by element’s side
through forest
dirt
barefoot
wading through a leaf and water concert

A mother and daughter walk into the riverside
filling up bamboo weaved baskets
finding time to play
wet and wild
even nature blushes while they smile

Work is wet
sometimes it is the best it gets

Laughing and smirking all the while
mother lifts a giant leaf above the child’s head
though already soaked beyond relief
they pretend that this shield of green
has protected them from this perilous rain

The water is wet
so they say
wetter still is hearts at work that can work and play
