Enchantment and Guard
Grant Hope #262
A warrior’s queen or so it seemed
clothed in chainmail and silk
leather belt and holding a helmet with no eyes behind
She may believe with her blank stare and still parting lips she has charmed with the lure of romance
but this one’s heart has no spirit of the hilt
just a cold heart with warm hands
A man with nothing to guard him has no pride
and his woman may see right through, using beauty to snide, snicker, and toss his pride away to the highest bidder.
One leg covered in silk,
one leg bare
pulling the fabric up in one hand
she signals to come hither to whoever can take the place of her “worthy man”.
A wise man once said, “My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching…..For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life, to preserve you from the wife of a neighbor, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress. Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelashes.”
