If it wasn’t for my penchant for making food good
we’d be eating franks and beans until we turned into them!
I could see her eyes light up every time I did something new.
There was a cook in the family, and it wasn’t in our DNA!
No siblings or cousins
2nd or 3rd times removed
when it came to the spice of life and the dinner table
I learned this gravy groove on my own!
I made it to school
honing my culinary arts
my mom kept bragging about how I was so smart
You are what you eat
and I did prepare the best
Look at me now
a head chef in a place that I love
making chicken and greens so mean that even more people then my mom can love
spices, fats, dressings
ovens and ranges
every tool is at my disposal
I get to be as creative as ever
and put a smile on every table
