Glass Eyes
Grant Hope #248
Glass eyes in a sea of flawless skin
has there ever been anything bluer since the beginning of time
before water was touched
carvings of stone had yet to recede
oceans so clear streams of current could carry one along to vistas of coral song
Is this mother nature when she was young?

The imagery here is stunning. I love how the blue eyes become something ancient and oceanic, as if you're looking at nature in its purest, untouched form. The final line is especially powerful.
This poem paints a vivid picture with very few words. The comparison of blue eyes to ancient oceans and untouched nature creates a sense of wonder that feels both personal and timeless. I especially liked the closing question, it transforms a simple observation into something almost mythical, inviting the reader to see beauty as a reflection of nature itself.
