Grass
Grant Hope #260
You have heard me speak
seen me write of beauty’s might
but its constancy is like flowers
There is season with the breath of life
the breath of life also blows through the years
it has its testament
though not final word
The grass withers
the flower fades
but the word of our God will stand forever
Prepare way for him in the desert of life
no matter the bearing of sun in the heat of day
the encroaching dark with its cold
eternity’s reward will last longer than any symbol that man can mold

Grant, I appreciate how this poem contrasts the temporary nature of earthly beauty with the permanence of God's word. The imagery of grass and flowers fading alongside the reminder of eternity creates a powerful reflection on faith, perseverance, and hope. The closing lines especially capture the idea that enduring spiritual rewards outlast anything we can build or possess in this life. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful piece.
