Lifting Hands to Glory
Poem #302 • Persistent patience and enduring joy
The hands of a man and a woman hold a baby in cavernous dark
light within this endless suspension only reflecting off the surface of long worn and newly formed skin
Persistent patience and enduring joy embrace a future that will only etch further into the wrinkles of parental pride and worthy sacrifice
while squealing laughter begins to fill pudgy cheeks
between the still small sounds of silent sleep
What will become of the child as hands lift it closer to future light?
The cycle of life most precious with every possibility known
only one
to bring glory
and to come home
