When everything stops
when the world fades
and all we have is you and I
when we can think of reasons we are we
when moments reign where all we must think of is the love that we share
we promise to be ready for them
we promise to be present

Every stroke of the cheek
every finger run through hair
every look taking all of each other in
saying everything that has been spoken between us again
devotion can be breathed even in whispers and soft exhales

It’s in these moments that any questions about the future disappear
the scent of these pauses when we are the center of the world
and the world leaves us be
every reverent word we have said
rises in silent warmth
holding each other
knowing that more times will come
we cherish each minute to rest our souls in each other
reset
