The water flowing steadily within her
waiting for the moment to burst
has the exceptional mermaid of this river
sitting still in this gushing bank

Enjoying the wait as best as she can
tenderly nurturing herself so that she is one with the extraordinary effort she gives her unborn babe

Fine tresses cover her round shoulders
her sparkling eyes look down across flush lips
across the bump of her belly
into the drifting dips of this brook

Her breasts are filled with sunshine
lapping their jeweled splendor with motherly pride
They are ready to fondly feed that which is already a part of her and me

The tattoo on her belly
like a chandelier glows
above where this child waits and throws
as this mermaid rests knowing instinctively how the baby grows
