Purity in the Face of Human Convolution
Poem #299 • There is a life looking up to me
Looking into the eyes of my child
one so small
trying to teach them self-control and purity
freedom and responsibility
kindness without maligning the word of God
sensitivity without becoming numb to the truth
Integrity and seriousness
fun and play
wisdom in their speech that cannot be condemned
all while realizing that I am guiding them to be a master of all this
when I have only reached so far
some ways by my own hand
others by omission
now my strengths and shortcomings I cannot ignore
there is a life looking up to me to fill them with the way things should be
