Whispers and sedimentary stone
It’s as soundless as can be in the valley between the mountains
Out here when my love and I step forth
breathing
footsteps on earth
wind
these are the only things we can hear
To take it all in
apart from everything else
there is a way of life in this that I’ve never known
but we could happily live
Each day coming in from the hushed horizon
to a woman working in skintight red
no one around to say love and work are not part of a homestead
I feel like I can hear the voice of God
moving in the silence between the stones
