The Extremities
Poem #312 • Stranded in the fog of space I somehow ended up on a planet with grass that seemed to stretch onward...
Stranded in the fog of space
I somehow ended up on a planet with grass that seemed to stretch onward
The atmosphere played visions
filling my sight with memories of home and light
In time
all I kept on of my astronaut gear was my helmet to filter the foreign air
but even that too came off
in time
I picked flowers I found amidst the never-ending grass
holding them against my chest
each one a time capsule of my life before
---
After some unknown passing
I decided to walk farther
and farther still
eventually coming across turf that was trodden and pressed
I followed it without much hesitation
Little did I know I was headed east
the sun greeted me there as the fog lifted
I began to cry
all the flowers from my chest swept up in a breeze while light revealed my home
Stranded in the fog of space
I had been brought back
somehow
from the extremities
my memories could live another day
