The Spirit and Family
Poem #268 • When two become one, their beliefs come in tow
Tall grass
a furled blanket
fresh fruit
bread
and wine
a family of smiles and food amidst fields
celebrating a child
a union
a home
Do you believe in family?
It may seem obvious to some
though you may be surprised how many reject it
to feed one requires more than apples and grains
Look out ahead of you
for didn’t you know?
When two souls become one
their beliefs or lack thereof come in tow
Take the time to smile when its easy
take the time to laugh when its hard
because celebrations will come as stories do
but they only mean something if the morals ring true
The field is long
each season the path may have to be cut and not laid bare
but at the end of each one is the generation that sees more to life than vanity fair
