Till Life Brings Us Home
Grant Hope #255
At long last he called to me
the days when I was young and free lit up in contour against the haze of the setting sun
taking my hand
laughing as we ran across the field where we first met
My eyes closed as we reached the other side
I was home with my love
in the dress I made for him

This short poem carries so much emotion in just a few lines. The imagery of running hand in hand across the field where love first began creates a beautiful sense of nostalgia, devotion, and peace. I especially love how the ending conveys the feeling of finally coming home, not just to a place, but to a beloved person. Tender, heartfelt, and deeply moving.
