Against a lumpy wall of stone
on top of a towel covered slab
staring blank past the eye of her onlooker’s view
the sculpture of her
solid and slender
rises against the silent gravity of the room

Right cheek
round and tone
tapers towards her knee
knees wrapped lightly
while able-bodied hands connect
giving her kissed oval face a resting place

Back down her right leg
svelte reflections teasing out muscle and bone
down to her foot
seemingly ready to step out from her steady cocoon

Widening to the side from whence the length of her sheen of hair covers her sex
her slim boulder of a left leg
pivots to cross under the bridge of her knee
giving full support to the front and back

abdomen hardly seen but fully known
the hourglass of her frame is the time in this zone

Face at rest
skin as light as nature’s breath
visions of life stir in this statuette
