As the sugar rolled in her tongue
and the fruit dissolved in his teeth
they noticed under the air that was once light a burdensome layer washed over their skin underneath
What was once unblemished beauty in nature had an expiration in their now aging eyes
nakedness in all its bristling antipathy had been realized
It was not that grace or loveliness was lost
it was that terminal panic set in
everything they realized they could do to one another that had not yet been done in foul dark
all of it materialized like monstrous cloud
now causing them to wrestle with once pure flesh
a wafting evil making itself spiritual kin with a serpent’s kiss
Nakedness is not a person unclothed
the comeliness of man
creative and sacred
was present before
it is our shame laid bare before the Almighty Lord
the ability to be whole
contending with ever rolling clouds of flesh in part
