Like a tropical fern prospering in winter
my lady with emerald eyes and green coated mane
stiffs the cold wind with chilling charm

She is the warmth of spring in an ice tempest
even able to keep her hair straight though the weather keeps things hard-pressed
her lips bloom in the midst of overcast light
and snow on its way
her confidence is 100% right

She’s the master of thriving in seasons of cold
trekking deep powder since she was yay high
a handful of years old
Never wavering in the lock of her eyes or steady step
she can traverse mountains if she needs
able to do things with ease
that those who might dare
find themselves worried about deep freeze
